Red Hot Chili Peppers will release a new single titled “Dark Necessities” this Thursday according to a Tweet by the band this morning. According to sources close to the band, more information will be revealed Thursday after the song has been released.

One fan joked that “It’s just a funky cover of Bear Necessities,” referencing the similarity in title to the classic Disney song “The Bare Necessites,” from the 1967 animated film The Jungle Book.
The Chilis most played a benefit concert Friday at The Shrine in Los Angeles, but according to attendants, the band didn’t play any new music so the forthcoming song remains a mystery. If in fact “Dark Necessities” is indeed from a new album, it’ll be the band’s first full-length since 2011’s I’m With You.
